A Kindle Alternative? My Experience with PocketBook Lux 5

The Pocketbook LUX 5 is a lesser-known e-reader that has been on the market for some time now. While there isn't much information available about it online, I recently got my hands on it and wanted to share my thoughts. This is an honest review and not sponsored in any way.

The Pocketbook LUX 5 has a sleek design and feels great in your hands. It's relatively light, and the shape slides from thicker to thinner. The bottom features buttons that you can use to change pages, and there are additional buttons on the left and right sides of the device. The left button takes you to the home screen, while the right button drops down a menu that includes options for Wi-Fi, airplane mode, and more. The device also has a brightness button and a warm light, which could be useful in low-light environments.

The Pocketbook LUX 5 has several downsides, however. First, it doesn't support many languages. While you can read books in other languages, taking notes can be a pain, and the device struggles with complicated words. The dictionary is also limited, and it's challenging to find many words, even in some of the more popular languages. The sensitivity on the screen can also be an issue, as it's not always accurate. When I tried to select a word on the left side of the screen, for instance, the device highlighted the word on the right side instead.

The Pocketbook LUX 5 does have some positives, however. It has Google, which is useful, and you can draw on the screen with the included pen. Some reviewers don't spend much time discussing these features, but they're worth noting.

Overall, I found the Pocketbook LUX 5 to be overpriced for what it offers, especially considering its downsides. If you're looking for a reliable e-reader, you're better off with something like a Kindle. While the Pocketbook LUX 5 has some useful features, it falls short in many areas, and I wouldn't recommend it.
